Victor T. Arnao, Jr., age 56 passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019 at Albany Medical Center.
He was presently living with his sister in Andes, and was a long time resident of Margaretville, New York.
Victor was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Dr. Victor and Hilde (Hertwig) Arnao. He graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1981.
He was also a graduate of Paul Smith’s College in 1983. Victor was a perpetual student of life. He went on to study at numerous institutions including Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island where he received his doctorate.
“Vic” was a teacher at heart. He last teaching position was at Port Ewen, New York, where he shined the brightest. He was a highly regarded BOCES teacher who loved teaching and rejoiced in getting his students scholarships.
He reveled in culinary competitions to show his “kids’” accomplishments, with wins in Pro Start New York State Championships, trips to national competitions and a national win in a NASA culinary challenge with a rhubarb crisp recipe still being served at the space station (google it).
Victor loved hunting, deep sea fishing, singing and music, jeopardy, trivia and their family pets. Victor is survived his sister Christine. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring at his request.
Donations can be made in his honor at the culinary department at Port Ewen BOCES for culinary competitions.
The Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, New York is assisting the family with arrangements.
