Ted never stopped working to improve the 40 acres of Catskill land purchased in 1960, building the house with his own hands and with the help of countless family and friends. Barns, ponds and more acres were added over the years. While living in Halcott Center, Ted became a sheep farmer and an American Tree Farmer. An avid gardener, birder, and hunter, he also enjoyed skeet shooting, forestry, and blacksmithing. He was proficient in woodworking, plumbing, electrical work, and repairing all types of engines. Ted was active in local politics, serving as the Town Supervisor for Halcott Center from 1991-2001. He was most proud of his role in having the Grange building renovated, the expansion of the recycling center, and the replacement of a local bridge destroyed after flooding. Ted was a lifelong reader with an emphasis on the American Revolutionary and Civil Wars. He travelled extensively with his wife throughout Europe, Central and South America, and New Zealand.

A spiritual man, in each parish where he and his family resided Ted was active. While in St Jerome’s Parish in Brooklyn, he participated in the Holy Name Society and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. In Shrub Oak, NY he was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (1971-1986), and, in later life, the Sacred Heart Parish in Margaretville NY (1986- 2019). Here he volunteered with and for various charitable events for the community. When spending winter months in Venice, Florida, he worked as an electrician in building 19 homes for Habitat for Humanity.

Visiting hours for Ted will be Monday, Feb. 25 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, 48 Walnut St., Margaretville, NY 12455. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Sacred Heart Church on Main Street in Margaretville. In lieu of flowers, his wife requests that donations be sent to Sacred Heart Church in Ted Randazzo’s memory.
