Rev. George Boatwright

Rev. George B. Boatwright, 94, of Walton, WV, former Pastor of the Margaretville, New York, Advent Christian Church went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2019 at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

George was born December 9, 1924 in Clover, WV to Oscar “Ott” and Carrie (Chambers) Boatwright.

After graduating from Walton High School, WV in 1943, George enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country as a B-24 Bomber Belly Gunner/Armorer, seeing combat action in Europe, often escorted by the Tuskegee Airmen.

After the war, George attended Aurora College in Aurora, IL and the New England School of Theology in Boston, MA and pastored several churches in NY and Florida for more than 35 years.

George enjoyed gardening, inventing, telling stories from the “holler” and hiking in the Catskills with his wife Mollie.

Surviving are his children, George Olin (Pam) Boatwright, North Augusta , SC, Barbara Boatwright (Brian Duncan) Arkville, NY, Bill (Ana) Boatwright, Mt Horeb, WI, David (Hyunsuk) Boatwright, Live Oak, TX and John (Donna) Boatwright, Ozark, AL; grandchildren, Jeremy Peck, Paul and Priscilla Boatwright, Daniel West (Courtney), Amanda Boatwright and Breanne Boatwright; great granddaughters, Arabella (Bella) Boatwright, and Katelijn West; several nephews, niece, cousins and sister-in-law, Joanne Soucy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Mavis (McCormack) Boatwright and Mollie (Almekinder) Boatwright.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Clover Cemetery in Spencer, WV with Rev. James Harris Officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Local VFW and Camp Dawson Army Reserve. Online condolences can be sent to www.davisfuneralhomewv.com.
