The Pakatakan Farmers’ Market will host its first ever, “Shingle and Mingle” fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 4-7 p.m. at the Union Grove Distillery in Arkville.
Guests will be able to enjoy soups, chili, breads, cheeses and sweets prepared by market vendors while the Union Grove bar will have a wide array of tasty cocktails available. Live music will be performed by local favorites Loren Daniels and Kim Hawkeye from 6-9 p.m.
The roof replacement of the historic Pakatakan Farmers’ Market Round Barn is estimated to cost $90,000. To date, $65,000 has been raised from community members, including grant funding from the O’Connor Foundation and market vendor contributions.
With the arrival of construction equipment and materials, work to replace the roof began just after the new year. The board which oversees the care of the historic Round Barn discussed different options for the roof replacement, opting to utilize Enviroshake shingles, an engineered, environmentally-friendly building material which has the look of cedar shakes rather than traditional cedar. Tickets for the “Shingle and Mingle” event are $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 4-14. Tickets may be ordered online at roundbarnmarket.org, the market’s Facebook page or on Eventbrite.com
The Pakatakan Farmers’ Market will open its 30th season on Saturday, May 16th.
