Claire Pacheco is the newest member of the 1000 Books Club! Claire is a pre-kindergarten student in Ms Hazeltine’s class at Margaretville Central.

Claire is the first MCS student to complete the 1000 books program as a pre-K student.

Some of Claire’s favorite books are Pete the Cat, The Berenstain Bear Series, Bruce Larkin books (because she can read them to her parents), and Eric Carle books. She loves to find out about the author and the illustrator and she loves reading to her baby dolls at home. Claire always wants to read or be read to! She was definitely on a mission to read the orange bags as she would complete 2-3 a night!

The 1000 Books Club is an early childhood literacy program. The goal of the 1000 Books Club is to make it convenient, easy, and free for parents to have access to 1000 quality children’s books to read aloud to their children. 100 tote bags, with 10 books in each bag, will be loaned, one at a time, to families in the community. The program is available to families with preschool or school-aged children in the Margaretville Central School District.

The program is administered by Mrs. Moore, the school librarian.

Claire and her classmates celebrated her accomplishment November 18th with a party in the library. Claire is the 13th student at MCS to complete the program since it began in 2011.
