Kathleen Wright

Kathleen M. Wright, 69, of Bovina Center passed away Friday morning, February 22, 2019 at home, following a short illness.

Kathleen was born February 6, 1950 in Margaretville, NY. She is the daughter of the late George C. and Louise (Mould) Redden. She was a graduate of Andes Central School, class of 1968 and Hudson Valley Community College in 1970. On August 20, 1972 she married Gerald T. Wright in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Margaretville. Kathleen and her husband Gerry owned and operated Mountain Transport, Hamden.

Kathleen participated in bowling leagues in Walton, was in charge of swimming programs in Andes, and taught thousands of kids how to swim. She was a member of the Snow Bird Lake Association of Forestport where she organized the annual picnic and spent time in a kayak, paddling in the north country. She also enjoyed knitting for her new grandbabies, who always received a blanket and mittens.

At home Kathleen enjoyed tending to her flower garden and reading a good book. Kathleen and Gerry enjoyed traveling in their camper out west where they visited Yellowstone National Park. But most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.

She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Gerry and two sons, Matthew (and Jennifer) Wright of Walton and Lucas (and Rachel) Wright of Laurens as well as by grandchildren, Kyle, Jillian, Abigail, Jayden, Logan, Owen and Isabelle. Kath’s two brothers, both of Andes survive; George (and Wendy) Redden and Daniel Redden as well as Daniel’s daughter Alexis, along with several close nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Delhi. Following the Mass the family will be gathering at the Donald W. Gleason Post 190, 41 Paige Ave. Delhi for a luncheon.
