Mrs. Helen B. Miller, born on July 22, 1919 in New York City, New York, to the late Victoria and Stanislaus Bartoszek, passed away peacefully with family at her side at age 99 on January 28, 2019 in Margaretville, New York.
Helen was the loving wife of the late Edward F. Miller and mother of Edward and his wife Margaret, daughter Ruane and the late Robert James. She is survived by eight grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreat grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Helen thrived on her family, friendships and her many interests. She especially loved cooking and food, science, music, and reading. She grew up in New York City in the early years of the twentieth century and was attuned to the variety of its peoples, cultures and foods. Helen passed that appreciation and awareness to her family. She loved to travel. She had lived in Aruba for many years where she shared a community of friends with her late sister-in-law Estelle S. Bart. Helen lived and worked in Milford, Easton, and Norwalk Connecticut before retiring to Aruba. She lived her later years in both Andes and Margaretville, New York.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville, New York at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, or a charity of your choice.
Memorial and Committal Services will be held at a later date at The Woolworth Chapel, The Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, New York at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, New York.
