George Robert Levy, a longtime Margaretville dentist passed away on October 9, 2019 at the age of 89 in Kingston. George was born April 21, 1930 to Jacob and Miriam Levy in Teaneck, NJ. George attended Rutgers from 1948-1950 and attended Northwestern Dental School from 1950-1954 where he graduated. George was a dentist in the Army and is a Korean War Veteran. He began his dental practice in Margaretville in 1961 where he practiced until 2005. George was a long-time Rotarian, welcomed as a member of the club by the late William Sluiter in February 1970 and made a member of its Board of Directors in 1971. In 1973, George became President of the Rotary Club and eventually was named a Paul Harris Fellow in that organization for his years of dedicated service. George enjoyed chess, bridge, and attending car shows. He is survived by his children; Jacqueline Berge of Chester Springs, PA, Victoria Levy of Woodstock, and Edward Levy of Olympia Fields, IL, as well as a grandaughter Miquela Berge. Remembered fondly by patients and fellow Rotarians, a memorial service was held for George last week at the Hynes Funeral home.
