I am sorry to learn that Debby passed away. She was a friend who was generous to others. Plenty of lively discussion occurred in her home when she invited friends for lunch. She was an avid reader and I remember her talking about a favorite book, “How to Live or a Life of Montaigne — about the life of l6th century nobleman and essayist Michael Eyquem de Montaigne. Debby made a magnificent contribution to Writers in the Mountains and was able to express beautifully her personal vision of independence from the norms of her time. She laughed with friends. There were fun trips to the hair salon in Saugerties, N.Y. Debby had a special wit and she was kind. And grateful to those who cared for her in later years.
