Annual Taste of the Town part of Winter Festival Week

By Jay Braman Jr.
The popular mid-winter event at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, known as “The Taste of the Town,” is once again being prepared for hungry ticket holders.
The event is the crown jewel of the 5th annual Winter Festival week, set this year to run from Saturday, Jan. 26 through Friday, Feb. 1. The Taste of the Town, sponsored by the Belleayre Region Lodging and Tourism Association, will be held at the ski center’s upper lodge on Monday Jan. 28 when the finest restaurants from all over the region set up in the lodge to offer their fare against the backdrop of the lodge’s cozy log cabin atmosphere.
Headlining at the dinner will be Jazz recording artist Deanna Kirk.
“Be sure to be here on Monday, Jan. 28 as area restaurants show off their stuff in this fun and filling event,” said Belleayre spokesman Jonathan King on Monday. “ The doors of the Discovery Lodge will open at 6:30 p.m.”
Tickets are $30 per person and are available through the Belleayre Region Lodging and Tourism Association at 254-5600 x 361. The first 120 adults who purchase a ticket will receive a complimentary glass of wine in a souvenir wine glass.
Also for festival week, Belleayre is again offering $10 midweek lift tickets from Monday, Jan. 28 through Friday, Feb. 1.
“That’s five days of skiing for the price of one,” King said.
Prior to the beginning of Festival Week a long-standing local event, The Pine Hill Arms Race Series, began last week. This race series is all about fun for adults and is a handicapped race for skiers and riders of all ability levels. The entrance fee includes 10 weeks of racing plus the awards’ dinner at the end of the season.
