Memorial Day parades scheduled for Monday
The parade in Fleischmanns will form up at 8:45 a.m. at the Fleischmanns Firehall. The parade steps off at 9:00 a.m. sharp and ends at the Skene Library where ceremonies will take place.
The prayer will be given by Post Chaplin Patt Svoboda. Fleischmanns Mayor Pascarella will welcome the citizens and give a short talk. Fleischmanns resident, and newly appointed Town of Middletown Historian, Dr. William Birns will be the guest speaker. The Margaretville Central School Band will provide music and play ‘Taps.’ Boy and Girl Scouts will lay a wreath at the memorial and Legion members will provide the salute to the deceased veterans.
At 10:45 a.m. the parade will form at Margaretville Central School and step off at 11:00 a.m. sharp to march up Main Street to the memorial in front of the Legion Post located at 903 Main Street.

All active duty and veterans are encouraged to participate in both parades.
Refreshment, for marchers, will be served at the Legion Hall at the conclusion of the ceremonies.
In Andes the parade will step off at about 10:45 a.m. (depending on the bus, of course) and will proceed to Bohlmann Park for a memorial service, a firing squad salute and the playing of “Taps” and the national anthem by the Andes Central School Band.
The parade will then go back onto Main Street and finish at the Andes Cemetery where the band will play patriotic music. Two students will deliver Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address” and “In Flanders Fields” and the address will be given, using a prepared message from the American Legion’s national office.
The Andes United Methodist Church is having a yard sale on the church lawn beginning at 10 a.m. and the Presbyterian Church’s chicken barbecue begins at 11 a.m. featuring chicken from Brooks Barbecue of Oneonta.
Roxbury, Grand Gorge
In Roxbury the parade will form up at the north end of town and proceed south on Route 30 to the War Memorial for a 9 a.m. ceremony.
The parade will be repeated in Grand Gorge where it will form on Route 23 and proceed to the cemetery off Route 30 where a ceremony will be held.
