Rhoda P. Curran

Rhoda P. Curran, 84, of Gloversville, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville.

She was born April 28, 1930 in Margaretville, the daughter of the late John Peet and Grace Brandow. She was a 1948 graduate of Margaretville High School. She then went to work at several industries through out the area such as the Margaret- ville Telephone Company as an operator and clerk, Gloversville Continental Mills, Contel in Johnstown, OTB, Coleco in Amsterdam, Peters Oil Co., Nathan Littauer Hospital and Gloversville Federal Savings and Loan Associates. She retired in 1994.

Rhoda was an animal lover and enjoyed the company of her feline friends, Brucie and Bambie, also her late dog, whom she loved so much, Corky.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Curran.

She was also predeceased by her companion of 10 years, Patrick LaMori, her brother, Beverly B. Peet, and a sister, Marie Eignor.

Survivors include her twin brother, Robert Brandow of Crescent City, CA; stepson, Chris Curran of AL; stepdaughter, Barbara Blackwell of SC; caregiver, Lorraine Nichols of Amsterdam along with many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Marlene Thompson for all of her dedication in caring for Rhoda, also a thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice for the excellent care and compassion for Rhoda during her stay.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, March 14 at noon at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave. Gloversville, NY 12078 or to the James A. Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
