Congratulations to the Roxbury Rockets! The boys’ basketball team came out on top in the Delaware League’s Mountain Division. The Rockets are now preparing for the Cross-over Championship game at SUNY Delhi on Friday, Feb. 15, when they face the Wildcats of Hunter-Tannersville Central School.
Valentine’s Day is tomorrow! A fun local way to celebrate is at the ham dinner, benefit of Roxbury United Methodist Church. The meal, topped with delicious cakes, will be served from 5-7 p.m. Takeouts are available at 4 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for ages 5-12. Children under five eat free.
The 1990s Roxbury Surrey is ready to roll on Saturday, Feb. 16. Romantic rides for two leave every half-hour from 3-9 p.m., by reservation only. Cost is $40 for two, benefiting Kirkside Park. The deadline for reservations is February 14. Before and after your surrey ride, you can include stops at the Public Lounge, for a la carte from their full menu, or for a special dinner and surrey ride package, complete with truffles and champagne for two, for $75. Make your reservations with the Roxbury Parks Department at 607 326-3722. The dinner/surrey package also requires reservations.
At 7 p.m. on February 16, Patti Dell and Kent Brown will be featured at the Public Lounge, as they sing the love songs of Richard Rodgers.
What’s new at the Roxbury Library? For a starter, there are 20 shelves dedicated to new book purchases. The new audiovisual section now includes 398 videos, 83 DVDs and a growing collection of books on CD or audiocassette.
Two crib quilts made by the Roxbury Quilters are on display. Raffle tickets are $1 per ticket or $5 for six tickets. The quilt raffle drawing will be at the Library’s Holiday Bazaar on December 6.
Kendra Hinkley of Roxbury has qualified for the Honors List for the Fall 207 semester at SUNY Delhi by earning an academic average between 3.5 and 3.74. Kendra’s major is travel and tourism management.
