"February Frolic" show opens at Longyear Gallery Saturday
Presidents’ Day Weekend marks the opening of Longyear Gallery’s latest show, February Frolic. The artists’ reception will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The gallery hours have been extended that day with the hope of attracting after-work and après ski types, as well as diners from newly opened Dominico’s Café downstairs in The Commons Building.
Besides showcasing yet another fabulous array of mixed media offerings, February Frolic is an excellent chance to meet many of the 25 artists represented. This is a wonderful opportunity for both the attendees and the Longyear members. What work doesn’t become more interesting when discussed and seen through it’s creator’s eye? And the artists love the feedback.“Just When You Needed It Most” will be on view at the Longyear through February 10. It features the multi media offerings of member artists Robert Axelrod, Leslie Brill, Gayle Burbank, Marcia Clark, Ann Lee Fuller, John Hopkins, Phyllis Horowitz, Gerda van Leeuwen, Helane Levine-Keating, David Leveson, Margaret Leveson, Patrice Lorenz, Frank Manzo, Helene K. Manzo, Julie Metz, Lucy Nurkse, Tom Rapin, Marilyn Silver, Richard A. Simms, Sharon Suess, Nat Thomas, Alix H. Travis, Ros Welchman, Susan Whittenburg and Ellen Wong.
The community will soon be able to receive instruction and feedback from the artists too. Longyear Gallery has received a Decentralization Grant through Roxbury Arts Group to cover a series of low-cost workshops staged by various Longyear members this spring and summer. More information about this program will be available soon.
“February Frolic” will be on view at the Longyear through March 23.
