Onteora Mtn. House party tonight

NYS Senate Candidate Joyce St. George to benefit

NYS Senate Candidate Joyce St. George to meet constituents at Onteora Mountain House

A meet and greet event for State Senate candidate Joyce St. George will be held tonight, Sept. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Onteora Mountain House in Boiceville. Sponsored by the Town of Olive and Town of Shandaken Democrats,  “A Party with a Purpose” will feature meeting and conversation with the candidate along with  refreshments and music by veteran folksinger Amy Fradon, performing with guitarist Jim Barbaro, plus singer/songwriter Julie Parisi Kirby.

St. George, a New Kingston resident, is the Democratic challenger to Republican incumbent James Seward for the District 51 senatorial seat. Locally, St. George is a court mediator for Delaware-Otsego Counties, and coordinates a multi-agency coalition addressing addiction and substance abuse in the Towns of Middletown, Andes, and Roxbury. A newcomer to state politics, she worked in law enforcement in the 1970s, becoming the first woman to serve on the State Attorney General’s probe of misconduct in the criminal justice system in New York City after whistleblower Frank Serpico’s exposure of corruption in the NYPD. Her campaign does not accept donations from corporations or corporate PACs, relying on the small donor and emphasizing transparency in government.
