Festival returns to Windham

Windham — The Blackdome Music Festival returns to Windham for its 2nd year on July 28-29. Exploring different genres of music, the festival aims to bridge the gap between diverse styles, creating a distinctive offering of musical experiences. In addition to the main concert event on July 28, this year’s schedule includes several events – a guitar talk, a showcase of local musicians, and a family concert - that are free and open to the public.

The main concert on July 28 at 8pm at the Windham Civic Center features acoustic performances by Keelan Donovon, a Maine-born and Nashville-based singersongwriter with upbeat anthems fusing storytelling and irresistible hooks. Another participant will be folk artist Sam Moss, a singer-songwriter from Boston with a discography ranging from early recordings of instrumental folk guitar to more recent lyrically centered efforts including the 2018 album Neon; and The Hudson Dusters, a Catskill-based duo consisting of Jon B Woodin and Foggy Otis, two multifaceted singer-songwriters performing on ukulele and guitar who released their debut album Dare to Dream on June 5.

The festival begins on July 28 at 2:30pm at the Windham Civic Center with a talk on guitarmaking and restoration by noted luthier Robert “Cue” Gerhards of Gerhards Guitarworks. At 4pm, as part of the new Blackdome Supports Series, the festival expands to a new venue – the Windham Local – with performances by several local musicians including Emily Smith and Cue Gerhards. The following day, July 29 at 11am at the Windham Civic Center, Blackdome presents its first Family Concert - “Curious, Unusual & Extraordinary!” featuring author and composer Michael Hearst. Drawing from his highly successful books, albums and a PBS Digital series, Hearst presents a collection of songs about unusual creatures, extraordinary people, and curious constructions.
