David. H. Munsell

David H. Munsell, 80 of Roxbury and Ft. Myers, Fla. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday May 7, 2018 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born in Roxbury, the son of Henry and Margaret Munsell. David was a 1955 graduate of Roxbury Central School and a 1957 graduate of State University of New York at Delhi where he earned a degree in Construction Management.

David served for 6 years in the New York State National Guard. He worked for New York State for 1 year before starting his own construction business in 1960. He owned and operated his Construction company for over 50 years.

David served as the Supervisor of the Town of Roxbury. He was a member of the Roxbury Fire Dept. He also coached Legion Baseball, played on the Roxbury Town Baseball team and was a lifelong member of the Jay Gould Memorial Church serving on consistory and singing in the choir. David was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching golf, baseball (Boston Red Sox) and football. During his illness he enjoyed the numerous cards from old friends and his weekly talks with Dan and Joyce O’Neil, Don Brainerd, Dominick Fucci, his sisters Mary, Liz and Antha and the Sunday night Hinkley crowd. Towards the end, he especially enjoyed the visits from Alan and Krisitanna Heins, Ed and Barbara Dalski, Toni Osborne and Jermone and Tonya Liberatore.

David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Munsell. He is survived by his two daughters, Diane ( Kevin) Romanewicz and Andrea Cammer. Grandchildren, Matthew and Marlise

Cammer, Kyle Romanewicz also survive, as do David’s sisters, Mary Lou Munsell Niles, Elizabeth Wu, Antha Robbins and his Aunt Evelyn Griffin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Margaret Munsell, his sister Susan Armstrong, his brother Harry Munsell and his son in-law Mark Cammer. A celebration of Life will be held on July 20, 2018 at the Jay Gould Memorial Church.
