Wilma Lindner

Wilma Jane Lindner, 80, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer today, June 6.

Wilma Jane Von Glahn was born in Port Jefferson, NY on February 23, 1938 to William and Mae Von Glahn.

Wilma married Joseph J. Lindner Sr. on September 6, 1958. Sadly, Joseph passed away just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.

After relocating from Rocky Point, Long Island to Halcottsville, NY.  Wilma worked at the Roxbury Central School District, where she became their first female bus driver. Wilma continued working at RCS as a bus driver, aide and in the cafeteria until she retired in 1987.

Wilma was an amazing mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend to all she met. She will be greatly missed by everyone who’s life she touched.

Wilma enjoyed the last months of her life spending time with her sister, Gerry, granddaughter, Elizabeth Lindner and grandson, Benjamin Erickson.

Wilma leaves behind her loving sister, Gerry Sarubbi, her son, Joseph J. Lindner Jr. and wife Roxanne, daughters, Heidi Friedman and husband Henry, and JoAnn Erickson and husband Chris, as well as six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and multiple nephews and nieces.

Wilma was known for her great love for animals. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Heart of The Catskills Humane Society at PO Box 88, Delhi, NY 13753

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 8 at 1:00 pm at the Halcottsville Cemetery.      

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury NY.
