Anna Liddle

Anna Ellen Liddle passed away May 6, 2018, at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville.

Anna Ellen Balcom Liddle slipped gently into the presence of Jesus. Her life was a constant example of unconditional love and forgiveness. Anna loved well and was well loved.

She was born in Margaretville on January 2, 1932 to Richard S. and Bessie (Easley) Balcom. She was an honor student at Margaretville Central School. After graduation, she worked as an assistant to a local dentist.

In 1956 she married Carl V. Liddle at Carl’s farm which was in the town of Andes and had an amazing view of the Pepacton reservoir. Carl was a widower with three children. Anna helped raise the two younger children and especially loved the grandchildren. Both Anna and Carl were very involved with their church and they lived their religion. Anna enjoyed farm life and liked being outside.

Her creative talents were obvious in her decorating, dried flower arrangements and flower gardens. She enjoyed sewing dolls and refurbishing dolls for youngsters. Many will recall her fresh sticky buns, peanut butter fudge and oatmeal cookies. One of the things that endeared Anna to people was her joy in creating nicknames for them and many had special names for her too. She was a perceptive listener. Through the ups and downs of life, she was “There” for numerous individuals.

Anna was predeceased by her husband, her parents, sister Gladys McCann, stepdaughters Gladys Finch and Carol Rose Davis, daughters in law Melissa Finch and Ruth Liddle.
