Ann Liddle

Ann Liddle of Andes went to be with her God on Saturday April 14, 2018 surrounded by her beloved family at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

Louise “Ann” Liddle was born May 7, 1941 to Arthur and Helen "Tillie" (Wilson) Aikens in Walton. Ann married Richard L. Liddle at her mother and father’s home in Delancey on August 6, 1960.

She attended Delaware Academy, moved to Andes in 1958 where she was active in the United Presbyterian Church for 60 years, teaching Sunday School and serving as an Elder and Trustee. She was active in the Women’s Auxiliary of the Andes Fire Department and received a Certificate of Participation Award for 56 years of service. She is well known in the community evidenced by her membership in the Andes Society for History and Culture, her help with local fundraisers, and could always be seen at events.

Ann was also well known as the longtime news reporter for the Andes area, reporting stories to all the local newspapers, including the Catskill Mountain News.

Ann was the matriarch for the Liddle family, farm and sawmill. She herded the Liddle family together every year to gather for a family reunion that was always a great deal of fun and lots of laughs.

She is survived by her husband Richard L. Liddle, her sons Roger W. Liddle (Kim) and Daniel A. Liddle (Michele), her grandchildren Kate Liddle and Justin Liddle, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family including Ritchie Gabriel (Jan), Ricky Gabriel and Mark Liddle. She also leaves behind her special farm dog, Cookie.

Funeral service will be held at Andes United Presbyterian Church on Wednesday April 18, at 11a.m. Calling hours will be held at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday April 17.

Donations in memory of Ann can be made to the United Presbyterian Church of Andes, or the Andes Fire Department Auxiliary.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
