Kimberly Riggi

Kimberly Ann Riggi, age 50 of Arkville, passed away on March 24, 2018 at home after a long, courageous battle. She was surrounded with the enormous love of her family when she continued her journey.

Kimmy’s love for her family and friends was immeasurable. She devoted her life to caring for others with endless compassion and empathy. She was always a giving, kind, loving person and even when her own circumstances were very difficult for her, she has never hesitated to lend a helping hand to family or friends in need. She was incredibly strong and fought a long, courageous battle with the “dragon” that attacked her body five years ago. She could light up a room with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh.

Her grandson Marke always said to her that there is one blue lobster in a million and she was our blue lobster. She had a warm and comforting soul. She lived her life to the fullest whether it was enjoying her family’s house “down the shore,” sitting on the beach with Jack, playing with her grandkids, having special chats with her niece and God daughter Kayla, watching her grandkids playing soccer, supporting her nieces’ and nephews’ dreams, planting her garlic, eating good food, having adventures with her sister Jen, or gathering family in her kitchen, she loved each and every moment and made sure we all knew it.

Kimmy graduated from Roxbury Central School. Then she continued her education at Delhi College of Technology to pursue her passion for nursing. Her nursing career started at Margaretville Memorial Hospital. She found her special place at Robinson Terrace In Stamford, as Director of Nursing where she prided herself on being a professional and hands on influence that the other nurses could always look up to, ask advice from and aspire to.

She was admired by her coworkers and loved by all of her patients. Kimmy had the gift of making everyone who came into her path feel loved and cared about.

Kimmy is survived by her parents Bob and Marilyn Donnelly, as well as her devoted husband of 30 years Jack Riggi. She was an exceptionally loving parent to Sue and Rob Canizio and John and Celeste Riggi. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Marke, Nick, Anthony, Nicholas and Johnny. She was a loving sister to Jen & Zac Clark, Robert & Helene Donnelly, Joseph & Autumn Donnelly, Denise & Michael Corino, Donald & Amy Riggi and Richard Riggi.

She was also a proud doting Aunt Kimmy to Kayla, Zachariah, Shamus, Tanner, Robbie, Michael (Maria) Anthony and Dominic, Justin, Marc, Jaclyn, Lauren, (Tom) Gianna, Thomas, Matthew (Meghan) and Isaebel, as well as cousins, aunts and uncles on the McNally and Donnelly side. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

Calling hours were held at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville on Tuesday, March 27. A memorial service for Kimmy took place that day.

Donations can be made to a scholarship developed in her name “The Kimberly Donnelly Riggi Nurse Leadership Memorial Scholarship” at Stamford Central School for a student going into the nursing field that exemplifies her qualities. Donations can be made to Stamford Community Dollars for Scholars and mailed to Stamford Central School, 1 River Street, Stamford, NY 12167.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
