On February 8, State Police Kingston arrested Terry Elmendorf, 59, of Olivebridge, NY for DWI. Elmendorf was observed by troopers plowing several driveways in the area Crispell Road in the town of Olive. After he was completed plowing he parked in his driveway and approached the troopers who were in the area on an unrelated complaint. Troopers observed that he was impaired by alcohol and he was subsequently arrested for DWI.

Fire in Davenport claims the lives of two children

On February 9, at about 1:46 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta responded to a Delaware County 911 report of a structure fire on Dehning Rd., in the town of Davenport. The State Police investigation determined that two children, ages 1 and 3, died during the fire, and that one adult victim was taken to Upstate Medical in Syracuse for burn injuries. On Monday, authorities released the names of the victims, which included Kiley J. Sullivan, age 3, Cody E. Sullivan, age 1, both of whom died in the fire and their father, Carmen E. Sullivan, age 44, who was taken to Syracuse for treatment of burn injuries.

Officials stated that upon arrival on scene responding units found a 4-unit apartment building fully involved with reports of the two children trapped in one of the upstairs apartments according to Delaware County Emergency Services. Fire & EMS units responded from East Meredith, Pindars Corners, Davenport, Delhi, Bloomville, Franklin, and Meridale, as well as Oneonta Fire and EMS and Cooperstown Medical Transport.

New York State Police, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware County Department of Emergency Services, Delaware County Fire Investigation Team and New York State Fire continue with the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Roxbury to Andes Mailbox Vandalism Spree leads to more charges. On February 5, deputies arrested and served Douglas B. Hall, III, 18, of Arkville, and a 16 year old Margaretville male, with Criminal Summonses directing each of them to appear in the Town of Andes Court on a later date to answer three charges of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.

These arrests were the result of deputies’ continued investigation into a number of November 2017 vandalism complaints received from residents on Fall Clove Road in the Town of Andes who had reported their mailboxes damaged during the overnight hours.

On February 6, Deputies arrested Dana A. Britton, 38, of Meredith, on a Chenango County Arrest Warrant for 2 Counts of Petit Larceny, both Misdemeanors. Following the arrest Britton was turned over to Chenango County Sheriff Deputies for arrangement in the court of jurisdiction.

On February 8, at about 6:52 p.m., deputies arrested Dennis J. Hulse, 56, of Auburn, on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree, and driving while ability impaired by drugs following a traffic stop on State Highway 17 in the Town of Colchester. Hulse was also charged with driving 80 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone. He was later released on traffic tickets returnable to Colchester Town Court at a later date.

On February 10, at about 7:54 p.m., deputies arrested Meghan E. Armstrong, 28, of Walton, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Armstrong was also cited for no plate lamp as well as not wearing a seatbelt while operating a motor vehicle. This arrest stemmed from a traffic stop on Chambers Hollow Road in the Town of Hamden. Armstrong is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hamden Court at a later date to answer the charges.

On February 10, at approximately

7:24 p.m., deputies arrested Cameron Bowne, 23, of Oneonta, for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana resulting from a traffic stop in the Town of Kortright.

Bowne was also charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, inadequate head lamps and failure to notify DMV change of address. Bowne was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to reappear at the Town of Kortright Court at a later date.
