Lela Mae Wiltsie

Lela Mae Wiltsie, 89 a resident of Arkville, New York died Saturday November 18, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. Lela was born February 12,1928 in Oneonta New York, the daughter of Myron H. and Dorothy (Taylor) Wiltsie.

The family lived in Oneonta until Lela was five years old at which time they moved to Margaretville. Lela graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1945. Soon after, the family relocated to Binghamton, New York where Lela attended Broome Business School for a year before working as a secretary for ANSCO.

After marrying Stratton H. Todd, Lela lived in Seager, New York located at the upper end of the Dry Brook Valley, where they raised four sons. After moving to Arkville, Lela’s working years included Wickham’s Insurance, Fuelane and 20 years of work at the Catskill Mountain News. When she wasn’t working, Lela enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and crafts.

Lela is survived by four sons, Charles, Roy, Lynn and Jay, four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, a brother Russell (Betty) Wiltsie, three nephews, two nieces and one great niece. She was predeceased by a grandson Jay Paul Todd.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, New York on Wednesday November 22, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at the Margaretville cemetery with Pastor Shirley Davis officiating.

Donations in memory of Lela Mae Wiltsie may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Margaretville, New York 12455.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
