Debra Cronk

Debra Kay Cronk a resident of Grand Gorge passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Archcare Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck on Saturday October 14, 2017.

She was born on March 8, 1964 in Margaretville, the daughter of Gerald and Patricia (Shields) Ackerley. Debra graduated from Andes Central School in 1982. She married Doug Cronk on October 12, 1991 at the United Methodist Church in Andes. Shortly after, they purchased their home where they raised three beautiful daughters.

Debra worked for Agway Energy Products for nine years. She then devoted all her energy to being a full-time mother.

She enjoyed horseback riding, playing cards, swimming, car shows, family gatherings, the holiday seasons, vacations, cats, music and coffee.

Debra was a member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Doug, daughters Katie Cronk of Delhi, Megan and Emily both of Windham and her beloved grandson Wyatt Oliver Ladlee. She is also survived by three brothers Thomas (JoAnne) Ackerley of Auburn, Steven (Janet) Ackerley of Elizabeth, NC, Michael (Robin) Ackerley of Jacksonville, FL and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. All that loved her will dearly miss her.

Debbie remained strong for many years while battling Huntington’s disease, a disease that affected her body but not her spirit. We are thankful for the specialized care she received at Archcare Ferncliff Nursing home especially towards the end of her life.

Calling hours were held at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury on Monday, Oct. 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 6:00 to 8:00. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church, Andes on Tuesday October 17 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev Donna LeRoy officiating. Committal prayers followed at the Sanford Cemetery, Margaretville.

Donations in memory of Debra Kay Cronk may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America or to the Center of Neurodegenerative Unit at the Archcare Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
