Kirsten Lor

Kirsten “Stella” Lor, 91, died July 6, 2017.

Stella was born July 4, 1926 and immigrated to the United States from Norway in 1947. While living in Brooklyn with her aunt and uncle, she worked at Schrafft’s in New York City. She met her husband to be, Robert Lor, at the Lorelei Dance Hall in New York City. They married in 1950, and moved to East Northport Long Island. In 1967 they moved to Andes with five children, a Great Dane, and a horse.

Stella worked at the Victory Market, later the Great American, in Margaretville for more than 18 years. After retiring she was always working inside or outside. She was famous for her Norwegian sweaters, hats, mittens, homemade jellies and jams, and baked goods. She loved to ski. She was cherished for the nurturing love she gave to her family and will be forever in their hearts.

She is survived by children, Jan Lor, Greg (Mary) Lor, Jeff (Vicki) Lor, and Sonia Lor. Surviving grandchildren include Tara, Ivan, Michael, and Justin Lor, Jerrod Hubbell, and Alex Lor as well as Tory, Kaley, and Kirsten Antonsen, James Lor, and Samantha Lor. A greatgrandchild, Greer Marie Lor, also survives.

Stella was predeceased by her husband, Dr Robert Lor; a daughter, Ingrid Lor, and grandchildren, Erik Lor and Morgan Lor.

A celebration of Stella’s life will be held at the family residence on Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m.
