Steve Leibowitz

Steve Leibowitz, 72, passed on peacefully at home in Roxbury on Thursday, May 4, 2017. He had been fighting a heart condition and cancer for several months. Although his time here with us ended too soon, his love and spirit will live on with us forever as it did when he was alive.

He was a selfless, kindhearted man who lived humbly. He put value into everything he said and everything he did each and every day of his life.

Steve was born in Brooklyn on June 11, 1944. He attended both Queens College and Bernard Baruch College. He graduated with a degree in psychology and then went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in business administration. He worked in Manhattan for Scientific American Magazine and Decision Center Marketing. Steve realized the corporate world life was not for him, and he packed up his family and moved to the Town of Roxbury in 1972. It was this town that he fell in love with. It was home. Steve first worked for several people in many areas of construction and home improvement before becoming a self-employed carpenter/contractor. He could design and build just about anything.

Steve truly enjoyed golfing with his friends and a quiet walk in the woods. You never knew what he would come home with. He loved a good baseball or football game… when they were winning. Steve’s biggest love however was his family. He supported and provided for them with gentle guidance and unconditional love.

He was able to spend his last few years traveling and exploring the United States from coast to coast with Rita, the love of his life for more than 49 years of marriage.

Steve was a gentle, happy man who enjoyed the simple things in life the most. He had a saying, quote or a rhyme for just about everything. Upon his passing his wish was for us to wear a smile, tell stories, and celebrate his life. Please join friends and family to honor Steve at the Roxbury Firehouse on Friday, May 12 from 4 p.m. on.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
