Ila Faulkner, 99, a longtime resident of New Kingston, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Margaretville Hospital.
Ila was born April 21, 1917 in the Town of Andes, the daughter of Almyron and Florence (VanSteenburgh) Baker. She married Guy Faulkner on June 23, 1945 in New Kingston. Guy died September 20, 1981.
Ila attended a one-room school on Dingle Hill and even got in a year at the new Margaretville High School. She did house work most her life and spent a good amount of time caring for other people’s children. She always loved working in her garden.
She was a member of the Margaretville-New Kingston Presbyterian Church and the Middletown Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving Ila are two nephews, Burton (Kathy) Lanzi of Crossville, TN and Fred (Joann) Lanzi of Wendell, NC and one niece, Rosemarie (Frank) Wisniewski of Highland Falls. Several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and a special friend, David Burrows also survive.
She was predeceased by a sister, Wanda Lanzi.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville with Pastor Shirley Davis officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m.
Committal prayers will follow at the New Kingston Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Ila Faulkner may be made to the Margaretville Hospital or to the
New Kingston United Presbyterian Church.
