Unbeaten team from Delaware League plays this weekend

The undefeated South Kortright Central School Lady Rams punched their ticket to the New York State Class D championship weekend in Troy next Saturday and Sunday with a 55-22 pasting of Section IX champion SS Seward at Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) on March 11.

The Rams scored first, were never behind, and extended their lead in every quarter. South Kortright managed a buzzer-beating hoop at the end of each of the first three quarters.

The winners raced to a 16-7 lead after one period and extended the margin to 30-14 at the intermission.

The unbeaten SK club didn’t let up in the second half, going on a 15-1 run in the third period and putting the contest out of reach.

Lexi DuBois had a big night for the Rams and led all scorers with 17 points. She had 12 rebounds, six assists and picked up five steals. The Rams also got strong offense from Brianna Laing with 11 points (including a trio of three-pointers), plus five assists and four steals. Jordan Finch had a strong game underneath the hoop, scoring 10 points, pulling down 13 rebounds and blocking two shots. Anna Reinshagen added eight points for the winners.

Several hundred Ram fans braved what could only be called an ugly winter day that featured single-digit temperatures, high and gusting wind, and falling, blowing, and drifting snow to make the 100-mile trip to Dryden to support their team.

The Lady Rams will be back in action Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy in the semi-final round of the state Girls’ Class D Basketball Tournament.
