Nick Rossi

Nick Rossi, 92, born on September 23, 1924, passed away on Sunday morning, February 19, 2017, after a short stay in Mount Sinai Queens Hospital. Judith, his wife of 47 years, was at his side when he passed away.

Nick and Judith were longtime second homeowners in Roxbury for over 40 years. They loved their Catskill home and were sad to be forced to sell their home two years ago when commuting became very cumbersome.

Nick was predeceased by his father, Rocco and mother, Nancy Raucci of Queens, and his sister, Madeline Profetta of Douglas- ton.

Surviving are his son, Richard and his wife, Patricia of Margaret- ville, and their grandson, Steven and his wife, Shannon of the Bronx.

Nick enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during World War II, seeing action in France and England. After the war, he had various and diverse occupations and careers. He was a photographer, cab driver, caterer, etc. and in his later years Nick was a beauty and hair consultant at the Grace Downs Modeling and Secretary School in NYC where he also was the hair stylist at his own salon. While residing in Roxbury, Nick turned his talents to writing and wrote a novel titled Oh Johnny.

He was a man of many talents and had strong opinions and shared them with all who knew him. He was uncompromising in his beliefs and stood up for what he believed.

Nick was a devoted husband to his wife, Judith, a loving and caring son to his parents, Rocco and Nancy, and a protective brother to his sister, Madeline. Furthermore, Nick was a thoughtful loving father and grandfather to his son, Richard and grandson, Steven. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him and will always be in their hearts.

In accordance with his final wishes, he will be cremated and he requested that no viewing be held. Nick wanted to be remembered ‘as in life’.
