Record breaking snowstorm shuts down region

News office to be closed all day Wednesday, 3/15

After warnings and preparations and changes in forecasts, the region was hit hard Tuesday with a blizzard unlike any seen recently.  By three o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, many area residents were reporting over two feet of snowfall and the skies showed no signs of stopping.

News staff braved the storm to finish the March 15 edition and send it to the presses.  You'll read it here on the website sometime after 8:00 on Wednesday morning.  But like most other area businesses, including local post offices, the News will be closed all day Wednesday and paper copies will not be delivered to post offices and news stands before Thursday morning.

We look forward to sharing "storm stories" next week and anyone with great photos to share can send them to joan@catskillmountainnews.com.  In the meantime, hunker down and be safe.
