Anthony Carmeli

Anthony P. Carmeli, 90, son of Salvatore and Rose Borusso, died peacefully in his sleep on December 19, 2016 at the Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge, NJ. A longtime resident of Roxbury, he relocated several years ago to be closer to family.

Born in New York on March 17, 1926, Tony was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1944 through 1946. Tony was a member of the American Legion, the Roxbury Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Squad, and a Mason.

He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Ruth Bouton Carmeli; his son, Anthony Carmeli (Colleen Ambrozy); his daughter, Margaret Carmeli (Arthur Peslak); his grandchildren, Rebecca of Millstone, NJ, Alyssa and Hannah of Boulder, CO; his sister, Josephine Fanelli of White Plains as well as other family members and close friends.

Tony will be laid to rest at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. A memorial service will be held at that time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Anthony P. Carmeli to the Reformed Church Home Employee Scholarship Fund, 1900 Route 18 North, Old Bridge, NJ 08857 or the Roxbury First Aid Squad.
