Nettie Salamin

Nettie Salamin, 93, passed peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Middletown.

Nettie was born February 17, 1923 in New York City, the daughter of William and Mary Pawelko. She married Walter Salamin on August 4, 1943 in New Jersey. Walter died January 17, 1989.

Moving from Rockaway, Queens to Margaretville in 1964, she spent 52 years living on Swart Street.

Nettie was employed at the Victory Market and the Cheese Barrel in Margaretville for several years. She enjoyed working with ceramics and playing Bingo.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Margaret) Salamin and Peter Salamin; three grandsons, Matthew, Michael Jr., and Marc; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Andrew, James, and Ava; a brother, Stanley (Mae) Pawelko and a niece, Connie (Ricky) Mc Grath.

She was predeceased by a sister, Annie and three brothers, Michael, Paul, and John.

The family wishes to thank the third-floor staff of the Highland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for all the loving care they gave Nettie while she was a resident there.

A funeral service will held at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m.

Calling hours will be prior to the service from 2 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or your local animal shelter.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
