Margaretville girls down RCS; fall in close game vs. Kortright

Host Margaretville posted a 36-21 win over Roxbury in girls’ hoop action on January 11.

The Blue Devils used a strong defense to limit RCS to single-digit scoring in every quarter.

Kristena Westerfeld was the game’s top scorer, tallying 12 points to lead the winners. Kaylee Sanford had five points, Emily Baker, Kaitlyn Garcia and Katlynn Shamro scored four points apiece and Sylvia Hoffman add- ed three.

For Roxbury, Kaitlyn Balcom led the offense with 11 points and Katrina Davis was next with four points.

In play on January 13, host South Kortight held off a strong effort by Margaretville, to earn a victory by a 15-point margin.

Margaretville was within 10 points in the final period and had a chance to trim the SK lead, but the unbeaten home team took control in the closing minutes.
