Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident on Monday, Jan. 16 on Little Red Kill Road in the Town of Middletown. Following their investigation, deputies arrested Richard E. Herrel, 47, of Fleischmanns, for first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a class “E” felony, and the unclassified misdemeanors offenses of DWAI drugs and driving with a suspended registration. He was also issued traffic summons for failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely, unsafe tire, failure to notify the DMV of his change of address, and being an unlicensed operator.

Herrel was arraigned in the Middletown Town Court and was remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond. He is to re-appear in Middletown Town Court at 9:30 a.m. on January 18 to answer the charges.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested David DiBenedetto, 32, of Fleischmanns on January 8 after DiBenedetto was located on a traffic stop and was found to have an active arrest warrant from the Town of Delhi Court. DiBenedetto was transported to the Town of Delhi Court where he was arraigned on charges of issuing a bad check and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
