The holiday season was a momentous one for a proud, local woman who traveled to Albany and to Plattsburgh for the college graduations of two daughters.

Kaitlin Buerge, a 2009 graduate of Margaretville Central School (MCS), earned a Master of Science degree in Information Science at SUNY Albany and Kellsey Buerge, a 2013 graduate of MCS earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from SUNY Plattsburgh.

The women, daughters of Dori Buerge and the late Haywood B. Buerge Jr. were both honors grads at MCS with Kaitlin earning top honors as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2009.

Both played sports with Kaitlin specializing in softball and Kellsey “playing everything that a kid could play” during her high school years.

The high achievers continued that path during their college years with Kaitlin earning cum laude honors and a Bachelor of Arts in English and American Literature at Middlebury College in Vermont before moving on to complete her Master’s Degree this year.

Kellsey plowed through the work for her SUNY Albany degree is just three and a half years. Both women are familiar faces around town having been on the staffs of the Flour Patch (Kaitlin) and the Cheese Barrel (Kellsey) as they worked their way through school.

Following graduation, Kaitlin has returned to Middlebury where she is working and interviewing for positions in her field. Kellsey is back home awaiting the start of graduate school, where she plans to major in Physical Therapy.

Proud Mom, Dori is home breathing a sigh of relief after watching her “girls” move to the next level of success.
