Charles Pultz

Charles Junior Pultz, 91, a longtime resident of Fleischmanns, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Margaretville Hospital.

Junior was born September 12, 1925 in Fleischmanns, the son of Chester and Orpha (Krom) Pultz. He married Elaine Griffin on February 29, 1948 at Fleischmanns.

Junior worked for NYSE&G for 40 years and retired as chief lineman. He then went to work at Belleayre Ski Center for 12 years in the security department. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having served on the Battleship USS Wisconsin during WWII.

Junior spent 12 years as Chief of the Fleischmanns Fire Department where he was a 75-year member. He enjoyed sports, fishing, and hunting. He was also a member of the former VFW Post in Fleischmanns.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Elaine Pultz; a son, Terry Pultz and sister-in-law, Anne Eckert and nieces and nephews, Joanne (Fred) Lanzi, Sharon (Ed) Craft, George (Gina) Griffin and Fred Griffin.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Pultz.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville. A committal services will be held at a later date.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 6 at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m.

Donations in memory of Charles Junior Pultz may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Salvation Army.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
