Season of Giving important part of community work

As Thanksgiving and the winter holiday season approach, a host of community organizations and individuals will work hard to make sure that less fortunate residents have food and gifts to brighten the season. The efforts got underway early last week when Margaretville area Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts started their annual food drive. Scouts delivered donation bags to the doorsteps of area homes with instructions on how to fill them with non-perishable goods. This coming Saturday, Nov. 12, the scouts will return to those homes between 9:00 a.m. and noon to collect the bagged donations. Anyone who did not receive a bag and would like to donate can call Casey Morgan at 254-5053.

Donations welcome

Donations are accepted any time during the year and checks payable to the Community Christmas Project can be mailed to PO Box 58, Margaretville, NY 12455. Donations of homemade cookies and breads to go with the gift basket must be in by December 14.

As other community organizations ramp up their seasonal giving programs, the News will keep readers posted.
