Patricia Hilgers

Patricia Hilgers, 82, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 at her home in Arkville surrounded by love.

Born November 10, 1934 in Kingston, she was the daughter of George Clark and Juanita Mae (Christiana) Dixon.

Patricia graduated from Kingston City High School and pursued an education in music at Potsdam University where she met and married Benson Karl Hilgers.

Patricia continued her passion for music while raising her children, teaching both voice and piano from home.

Blessed with an amazing voice, she was a student of soprano Karen Ranung and a contralto in the Woodstock Philharmonic.

Always an amazing cook, she worked most of her later years as a chef in many restaurants, resorts, and bakeries, working well past retirement years.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Benson Karl Hilgers; her oldest son, also named Benson Karl, and a beloved granddaughter, Savanna Guglielmetti.

She is survived by four other children, sons Timothy and his wife Mellissa of Shandaken, Marc and his wife Solveig of Sweden, and Matthew and his wife Cathy of North Blenheim; daughter, Holly and her husband Charles of Arkville; daughter-inlaw, Shirley of North Blenheim; grandchildren, Karl, Tristan, Madison, Nikki, Roxanne, Nina, Jonathon, and Tru; great grandson, Max, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. until a funeral service is held at 11 a.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville. The Rev. Ralph Darmstadt will officiate.

Memorial donations can be made in Patricia’s name to Delaware County Hospice.
