Jeanne Wilson

Jeanne R. Wilson, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at home following a long battle with cancer.

Jeanne, born in Brooklyn, was the daughter of the late Frederic and Agnes Caretto of New York City and Bedell. She was raised in Manhattan and graduated from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. She married the late Robert “Bob” Wilson from Columbus, Ohio in 1955 and moved to Bedell and then to the Margaretville/Ark- ville area where she lived for 43 years till moving to Albany in 1999.

She taught at Margaretville Central School for 16 years before becoming the guidance director and school counselor for the next 20 years. She was the first woman to be a full time school counselor in Delaware County. She also had a private family counseling practice for several years.

In her free time she enjoyed buying and selling antiques and had a small shop. She, along with her husband, spent many happy days camping in their RV and going bass fishing. They were married for almost 42 years until Bob’s death in 1997. They had three children of whom they were very proud.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish for over 45 years. She taught religious education for a few years and was in the choir almost the whole time.

Following her move to Albany County she worked, first as a volunteer and later as the Assistant Regional Director, in the Capital District office of former Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for six years. This was a job she very much enjoyed.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Deborah) Wilson of NH; daughters, Suzanne (Michael) Barnes, and Robin Wilson of Albany, and granddaughters, Corsica Jeanne Wilson of California and K. Maria Wilson-Wright of Albany. She is also survived by several brothers- and sisters-inlaw and many nieces and nephews from Ohio.
