May Fisher

May E. Fisher, 85, a resident of Margaretville for more than 20 years, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at her residence.

She was born October 20, 1930 in New York City, the daughter of Ernest and Sadie (Mansfield) Giardina. May was happily married to Frederick E. Fisher for 64 years.

She received a Bachelor of Education degree from Newark State College and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Kean College. She was a secondary-English reading specialist. May was President of Graduate Student Council of Kean College of New Jersey.

She taught at several schools in the Manalapan English Regional School District in New Jersey. She was a reading specialist in Margaretville.

Before moving to Margaret- ville she lived in Colonia, NJ.

May is survived by her husband, Frederick E. Fisher; two sons, Fred and John and six grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Robert John Fisher.

A funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 at the United Methodist Church, Margaretville, with Rev. Donna LeRoy officiating.

A committal service will follow at the Margaretville Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday prior to the funeral service.

Donations in memory of May E. Fisher may be made to the Margaretville Hospital Ambulance Fund.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
