Charles Carey

Charles A. Carey, 73, of Roxbury passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, surrounded by three of his eight children. He was listening to Neil Diamond with his favorite movie, The Hunt for Red October.

Charles was born in Middleboro, MA on October 23, 1942. He spent his formative years there with his two sisters, Jean and Joan. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960 and retired with an honorable discharge in 1980. He ended his naval career with the rank of Senior Chief Electrician’s Mate.

After retiring from the navy, Charles relocated to his beloved Catskill Mountains. He had many different jobs and at one time operated his own business C&J Home Electric and Plumbing Repairs in Arkville. He was a “Jack of all trades.”

He leaves behind his wife, Joanne and his eight children, Heather, Caroline, Jason, Christmas, Rebecca, Charlotte, Charles (CJ) and Rachael and many grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Eleanor Carey.

All loved him and will miss him. Charles was a good man who loved his family very much.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville from 6 p.m. until a prayer service, which will be held at 8 p.m.

Charles will rest in peace next to his parents in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery located in Wellfleet, MA. “Rest in peace Sparky.”

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
