John Peters

John Eugene Peters, 49, of Roxbury died July 10, 2016 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident involving a deer. On that day, heaven received another angel.

John was a long time resident of Roxbury. He was born in Bloomfield, NJ on May 6, 1967 and relocated to Roxbury with his grandparents, Betty and Harold Peters and his mother and farther, Loretta and Harold Peters, all of whom have passed on.

John was employed by Union Local 17 in Newburgh as a union laborer until his death. He loved his fiancée, children, gardening, fishing, his dogs and the walks they took him on, sneaking chocolate ice cream in the middle of the night, his job, his home, and the getaways to Florida.

He is survived by the love of his life and fiancée of 12 years, Renee Wojciechowski; a son, Garrett; three daughters, Sydney and Taylor Peters and Theresa Coss and the mother of his children, Tracy Peters. Also surviving are a brother, Harold Peters (Mindy) of Roxbury; sisters, Debbie Briggs (Rob) of Prattsville, Betsy Peters (Dennis) of Margaretville, Roberta Cordero (Lenny) of Margaretville; an uncle, Jimmy Peters (Tina) and an aunt, Sue, both of Roxbury; two grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins along with a heartbroken extended in-law family of Wojciechowskis and Chojnowskis, who were so thankful to have had John in their lives. He leaves behind his dogs, Jake and Lyla.

His family and friends loved his kind ways and having had a chance to share his life and feel so fortunate. He will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will he held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 15 at the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m. at the Roxbury Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
