Larry Etsitty

Larry Etsitty, 66, of Andes and Hunters Point, AZ, died Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in Albuquer- que, NM.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 6, at the Fort Defiance Presbyterian Church. Marlene Neville officiated. Burial was on a family plot.

Etsitty was born July 31, 1949 in Fort Defiance, AZ, into the Mountain Cove People Clan born for the Waters Edge People Clan. He graduated from Window Rock High School, attended Northern Arizona University and majored in mathematics. He worked for the College of Ganado, Ganado Unified School District, Navajo Nation Tax Department and was a life insurance representative for the Republic National and Globe Life. Etsitty retired from the Navajo Nation in 2005 and was an instructor at the Window Rock Training Center. He married his wife Dona on December 30, 1972, at the Andes Presbyterian Church and later had a Navajo wedding on February 10, 1973.

Survivors include his wife Dona (Cole) Etsitty; daughters, Jennifer Etsitty of Seattle, WA, Julie (Mark) Jansen of Auburn, WA, and JaNelle Etsitty of Hunters Point, AZ; brothers, Tommy Lingruen of Tempe, AZ, and Leon Etsitty of Hunters Point; sisters, Betty Yazzie and Darlene Watson, both of Hunters Point; and two grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Nellie Etsitty and brothers, Richard Chester and Alvin Chester.

Pallbearers were Donovan Etsitty, Leon Etsitty, Mark Jansen, Thomas Kaufman, Donald Spencer, and Akeem Watson.

Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
