High “Five”
First of all, I think it’s important to make the point that I am not some meat-craving freak who needs a hefty supply of beef or pork at every meal. In fact, I can really take or leave meat at most meals, as long as there’s something tasty on the plate. The other thing that I’d like to clear up early in this column is that I’m not a paid sponsor for the company about which I’m going to write. Yet. If they offer me some buck — or food — I’ll certainly listen.
Which leads to my topic: Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

A real turnoff
It’s no secret that I’m cheap. Wait, that’s not entirely true. When it comes to investing in “quality products,” I am usually willing to spend the extra dollars to prevent hassles down the line. So, I guess it’s more accurate to say that I “save where I can.” One of those areas is in use of devices powered by electricity.

Do I know you?
Eagle-eyed readers spotted my photo in this paper a few weeks back as part of the Middletown Post 216 baseball team that captured the Delaware County American Junior Legion Baseball Championship “Back in ’73.”
However, very few of the sharp-eyed people were co-workers. Before the picture was published, I passed it around the office to see if the staff could identify me. Let’s just say if the success rate of News employees had been a batting average, they would be minor leaguers.

Hanging with the stars
Devoted readers may recall that I mentioned here last week that I would be in charge of passes for folks to “Meet and Greet” music/film star Chris Isaak before his Saturday show at the Belleayre Music Festival.
When I heard a few weeks back that I was being assigned this duty, I had one question: “Will I have to shave?”

Meeting the stars
Like it or not, it often pays to know “people.” For instance, I was recently fortunate to have access to tickets for a few lucky folks to “Meet and Greet” (M&G) country superstar singer Vince Gill after his nearby concert over the weekend. Let me put in a disclaimer here: I have certainly heard of Vince Gill plenty of times. I know he’s a great musician. It’s just that I not heard his music. Sure, I probably am familiar with a couple of his songs from the radio or something, but I don’t have any Vince Gill in my record or CD collections.
