“Food for Thought with Ann Epner,” a Writers in the Mountains workshop, will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the Fairview Library on Walnut Street, Margaretville. Particpants will read some of the classics and write in any genre that pleases them. The only rule is that the writing be food-related. Bring a short piece to the first class. No previous writing experience needed. $65. | ||

Anyone interested in enriching the lives of residents at Mountainside Residential Care Center or patients at Margaretville Hospital is invited to a Volunteer Signup Open House between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Visitors will get an orientation tour and can complete the required paperwork for registration. Those interested in volunteering should bring an updated immunization record. Start: 10:30 am
