Woodchuck Lodge tours open

Roxbury — Woodchuck Lodge, the farmhouse where naturalist John Burroughs spent summers from 1910 to 1920, will be open for free tours this weekend, August 6 and 7.

Visitors are welcome any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The lodge is located at 1633 Burroughs Memorial Road, Roxbury. Follow signs from Route 30, just north of Roxbury.
There is no admission charge; donations towards the ongoing restoration of the historic site are appreciated.

Tours begin on the rustic porch Burroughs built a century ago, in 1911, and proceed through the first floor of the 1862 house, where the famous essayist entertained guests like Henry Ford and Thomas Edison.
