William J. White, 79, of Pompton Plains, NJ passed away on Friday, Sept. 14, 2011 in Cooperstown.
He was born in Delhi, the son of Richard and Helen White. He married Helen Kimker in 1955.
William proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and later worked for many years as a customer support representative for IBM.
A passionate golfer, William was also a past member of the Packanack Tennis Club in Pequannock, NJ and the Perch Lake Association in Andes.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; a son, Stephen and his wife Janis; a daughter, Diane Conklin and her husband Mark; a brother, Jack, grandchildren, Richard and Matthew White and Megan and Hayley Conklin and a great-granddaughter, Erin Olivia White.
He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Grace White.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 7 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains, NJ. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Cremation was private.
A memorial service will follow in Delhi in the beginning of the summer 2012.
