Whet Paint show at RAG on Saturday

Roxbury — Over 40 local artists will participate in The Roxbury Arts Group’s annual Whet Paint on Saturday, Sept. 5. The artists will gather at RAG in the morning, eat a hearty breakfast, choose canvases in various sizes and disperse throughout the area to paint landscapes, village scenes or still-life arrangements before returning to RAG at 4 p.m., wet canvases in hand.
These canvases will be hung on the walls of the Hilt Kelly Hall for a silent auction open to the public at 5 p.m. All sales benefit RAG’s gallery program, although for the first time, participating artists will be given the option of receiving 10 percent of the proceeds of the sale of their works. The artists include; Jody Primoff, Neil Driscoll, Ann Lee Fuller, LisBeth Firmin, He Who Stands Firm, Doug Jamieson, Alix Travis, Nat Thomas and others. Admission is $10 and includes a reception of food and wines.
Participating artists will exhibit examples of their “dry” work in a group show in the Walt Meade Gallery and The Old Bank Gallery from Sept. 12 to Oct. 9. There will be an opening reception on Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m.
