Whet Paint returns to RAG August 30

Whet Paint, an annual event that has become one of the most popular days in The Roxbury Arts Group’s busy calendar, returns on Saturday, Aug. 30. Over 40 artists have signed up to receive canvases at RAG in the morning. From there they will go out into the streets and fields of the surrounding area and create fresh and inspired works of art. They will return to RAG with these paintings at 4 p.m., and the paintings will be hung on the walls of the Hilt Kelly Hall and sold at a silent auction during one of RAG’s most lavish gallery receptions.
The doors open to the public at 5 p.m. Admission is $10, and the bidding is sure to be competitive and festive in the extreme.
The two RAG galleries, the Walt Meade Gallery on Vega Mt. Road and The Old Bank Gallery on Main St. receive no foundation funding or other sources of support. Whet Paint is an important fund-raiser that allows RAG to maintain their exhibit program that showcases the work of up to 20 or more regional artists annually. But the best reason to come to Whet Paint is to be part of the spirited interchange among the artists and those who love their work. 607 326-7908.
