Vivian H. Wade, a resident of Roxbury, was called to her heavenly home 10 days after celebrating her 93rd birthday.
Born on August 2, 1921 in Boynton, OK, Vivian graduated from Cromwell High School and married her high-school sweetheart, James M. Wade. Shortly after, they began their 30 years of a globetrotting career in the U.S. Army. Vivian was instrumental in establishing the Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union and rose through the ranks from volunteer to treasurer and then president. She retired in 1985 after receiving several business awards. In 2010 she came to Roxbury to make her home with her daughter Sue.
Vivian was the mother of three children, Carolyn Sue, James Wade Jr., and Faye Annette Gordon.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Dick Kuhlow of Roxbury, son-in- law, Ron Gordon and his wife Noreen of Murrells Inlet, SC and daughter-in-law, Paulette Wade of Gurley, AL.
She took great joy in her extended family, which includes 15 grand children, 15 great-grand children and six great-great-grand children. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could bring a smile to her face faster than the site of any of these precious people.
She had a great love for chocolate and for the color of purple, which will be worn at her funeral service by family and friends in her honor.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury. The Rev Richard A. Dykstra will officiate.
A committal service will be held at a later date at Main Post Cemetery, Fort Bragg, NC.
Donations in memory of Vivian may be made to the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury or Catskill Area Hospice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
